Preschool Teacher
I joined The Breakie Bunch in July of 2019 and am very excited to see where this journey takes me! I have completed my lower level schooling at a local community college (Shasta College) in Northern California. Along with community college, I attended a university in the U.P of Michigan for a year, which is where I discovered my love for Michigan.
I have always enjoyed spending time with children as I have volunteered as a 4-H leader and an assistant softball coach. In a professional setting, I was an after school teacher and an instructional aide in Early Childhood Services before joining The Breakie Bunch. While employed with these two jobs, I took ECE courses to help further my knowledge when it comes to providing a safe, inclusive and age-appropriate environment for students. When I am not inside a classroom or volunteering, I enjoy fishing, camping, and spending time with friends and family.
Favorite Classroom Activity: Movement songs and read-along stories
Favorite Children’s Book: Put Me in The Zoo or any Dr. Seuss book
Favorite Quote about Children: “Play gives children a chance to practice what they are learning” – Mr. Rogers
Favorite Lesson to Teach: Basic sign language or STEAM activities
Favorite Thing about your Age Group, and Why?: Preschoolers are at an age where they are not only learning from the teachers, but they are able to help the teachers learn new concepts and techniques. Seeing children conquer their fears and overcome obstacles with guidance is a wonderful feeling as we know we are preparing them for their future.
