Springtime Activities for Children in Goodrich, Michigan

Kids fly a kite in the spring

Birds chirping, tiny flower buds ready to blossom, and the sound of little ones running around outdoors are some of the best signs of spring. As the winter chill begins to fade away and nature awakens with vibrant hues, there’s no better time to find some fun Goodrich activities for your family. The scenic beauty and charming attractions make for fantastic family fun, and getting outside in the warming sunshine is just what you need after a long winter indoors.

Whether you’re helping your little ones learn through play or hoping to get them to experience some structured learning in preparation for preschool, Goodrich has tons to offer for kids of all ages.

Why Get Outdoors in the Spring?

Long winters indoors can be difficult for children and adults alike, so the whole family can benefit physically and emotionally from some outdoor Goodrich activities. Not only are outdoor Goodrich activities engaging and fun, but they provide extensive learning opportunities for children. Additionally, everyone is itching to get outside once the weather shows signs of warming up.

Explore the Great Outdoors in Goodrich

In Goodrich, we are fortunate to have an amazing local park system. Genesee County Parks is the ultimate opportunity for family-friendly Goodrich activities. First and foremost, we love For-Mar Nature Preserve & Arboretum. Not only is it a gorgeous place for nature walks, kite flying, or a spring picnic, but it also boasts tons of kids’ activities that will keep your little ones engaged while supporting age-appropriate learning objectives.

Favorite For-Mar Kids Activities

Our two favorite Goodrich activities at For-Mar Nature Preserve & Arboretum are the Nature Storytimes and their “Knee High Naturalist” series. Nature Storytime is exactly what it sounds like – an engaging and educational opportunity for hearing plant and animal-themed stories. This activity is perfect for kids of all ages, as reading helps with language skills, social-emotional development, and other common learning objectives for littles.

The “Knee-High Naturalist” series is another exciting opportunity to get your kids up and moving while learning lots of interesting nature concepts. From learning about ice-fishing to mammals around the world, this activity is perfect for older toddlers to young elementary-aged kids. For-Mar Nature Preserve & Arboretum offers so much, but some of our other favorite Goodrich parks for kids are:

  • Lost Lake Nature Preserve
  • Atlas County Park
  • Seven Lakes State Park

Other Goodrich Activities

The weather can be a little unpredictable in the spring, so it’s always great to have a few hybrid activities up your sleeve. The Flint Children’s Museum has both indoor and outdoor areas for children, allowing the whole family to enjoy themselves no matter the temperature. Additionally, local libraries offer arts and crafts, special story times, and tons of other events for your little ones to enjoy.

Spring Has Almost Sprung

As we bid farewell to winter’s frosty temperatures and welcome the warmth of spring with open arms, outdoor Goodrich activities beckon us to embark on family adventures to create unforgettable memories. Grab your picnic basket, pack up the kids, and get ready to make the most of a gorgeous Michigan springtime.
