Preschool Podcasts We Love

Young boy listens to a podcast

Entertaining little ones is a full-time job, but once you find something that captivates their attention and sparks interest in new topics, it’s magic. In today’s digital age, podcasts for preschoolers have become a valuable and entertaining resource for adults and children alike. There are millions of podcasts out there, so there’s truly something for everyone.

Why We Love Podcasts for Preschoolers

We love preschooler podcasts because they’re an engaging, entertaining, screen-free activity. Children of all ages can immerse themselves in stories, both fiction and nonfiction, through audio, allowing their imaginations to run wild and captivate them for hours. Some of our favorite times to listen to podcasts are:

  • Long car rides
  • Winding down before bedtime
  • Rainy days

Not only can kids’ podcasts keep children entertained, but they are a great tool to enhance literacy skills in preschoolers and expand their vocabulary. Additionally, they introduce different ideas and cultures in a kid-friendly way, making them more accessible and exciting. There are tons of preschooler podcasts we love, and we think you and your family will love them, too.

Greeking Out from National Geographic Podcast for Children

Children’s podcasts can help introduce kids to cultures and historical happenings with which they may not be familiar. The podcast “Greeking Out,” produced by National Geographic, is great for all ages, even adults. It focuses on retelling classic Greek mythology in an accessible way, using modern storytelling and language.

Not only do they tell classic stories in age-appropriate ways, but they sneak in tons of historical facts about Ancient Greek history and culture. Even though the littlest ones may not understand the culture and history behind it just yet, it’s told in a fun enough way to entertain all.

Mystery Recipe Podcast for Kids

America’s Test Kitchen has produced a fun podcast called “Mystery Recipe,” which will help get the whole family in the kitchen. This is a great preschool podcast because it’s for all ages, meaning you can get teenagers, preschoolers, and anyone in between involved. It features the host, Molly Birnbaum, and her handy oven mitt sidekick, Mitsy.

Molly and Mitsy talk about, you guessed it, mystery ingredients and recipes. There are some episodes where they talk about uncommon foods, spices, and herbs, but they also have episodes where they hear from business owners and chefs from all around the world. They even have cook-along episodes where your whole family can get in the kitchen and make something delicious together while practicing math and measuring skills.

Circle Round Preschooler Podcast

WBUR, a nonprofit organization based out of Boston, MA, has a great preschool podcast called “Circle Round” that takes little ones on a journey during each and every episode. It adapts fairytales, folktales, and cultural stories from all over the world into easily digestible, 15- to 25-minute episodes that are appropriate for ages three and up.

Episodes of “Circle Round” are designed to break down important issues that kids face every day, like kindness and teamwork. Each episode concludes with a question or activity to do with your children that helps encourage conversation about potentially difficult topics. This one is great if your little one is having a specific issue and is having a hard time talking about it.
